This is Becoming Jody's Lame Adventure

Kaiser finally called back today with a list of more tests before I can be put on the waiting list. A MAMMOGRAM! Why do I need a mammogram for gastric bypass surgery? Not to mention it has only been 18 months since I had one! I do get to get a preop chest x-ray and then the surgeon wants to talk to my GP about some changes in medications prior to surgery, so once all this is in place I get to get onto the waiting list. March is booked solid, April is pretty full up so it will probably be May or June before I actually get to have surgery-I am soooooo bummed out! Someone gave Megan a picture of Christ when she was dealing with cancer that had the caption, "I never said it would be easy, just worth it", I keep telling myself that, especially in that I know 3 people who have either had their surgey or scheduled their surgery in less than 3 months and Kaiser is taking forever. They keep telling me their procedure is thorough and well planned out-is the rest of the world, just sloppy then?

Just spoke to Nancy, the surgical coordinator, and she has informed me my chart is on Dr. Hahn's desk for review, awaiting his nod for surgery and then it could be as long as four weeks out. I was really disappointed that it may be so far away, but she was encouraging when I told her I was available on short notice in case of cancellations, and she entered that into the database so while I wish no one ill, a cold, or sniffles or somethnig just enough to bump me up the list would be happily appreciated. I'm sure there is a reason for the time table I'm on, I just wish I had control of it, so in the meantime-I wait!
